Plot Summary 
The Country Under Heaven follows Ovid Vesper, a former Union soldier whose brush with death at Antietam left him plagued by visions. In the 1880s West, his wanderings draw him into eerie encounters—from spectral children to deadly unknown beasts—while he quietly aids strangers and seeks peace.
