Dear Hartley Alumni:
We are pleased to invite you to Hartley to help us celebrate the All School Reunion the weekend of August 2, 3 & 4. This is also a special year for all veterans, as we are also celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Arthur W. Kirchoff American Legion Post 288 in Hartley. Special events for that celebration include the Vietnam Memorial Wall, a cemetery walk, games in the park, dances, special entertainment and tours of the Patch-Eeten House. A list of all the activities, times and places can be found on Facebook under hartleysummercelebration and will also be on the City’s website, Any changes or updates will be posted on these two sites. Some of the activities are still in the planning stages so keep an eye on those websites for additions and changes.

The opening ceremony will start on Friday at 7 pm at the Legion, the Lions will be serving dinner at the park on Friday night with the Maiden Dixie Band at the Community Center on Friday night.

Saturday is the parade starting at 11:00, games in the park, cemetery walk, the all school reunion, at the Hartley Community Center, with social hour 5:00-6:00, a meal at 6:00 with a band at 7:00-10:00 at the Community Center featuring The Cruisers, with HHS graduates Phil Sweeney and Mike Anderson playing!

Sunday will wrap up the events with a Community Church Service at Neeble Park and the All school Reunion omelet breakfast in the New Shelter House at Neeble Park.

There will be a shuttle around town that takes people to the Trinity Church (the Vietnam Wall will be there) and to the community Center and Neeble Park.

ATTENTION CLASSES OF THE 50’S & 60’S: There will be a coffee on Saturday morning from 8:30-11:30 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. This will be ½ block from the parade route. There are bathrooms, seating, coffee and cookies available. It will give you a chance to meet up with some classmates and have a place to rest. Also the church has a lot of handicap parking spaces and will be an easy place to meet as it is on Central Ave. and close to many activities.

Also, with this effort putting this weekend together not only takes a lot of time but a pretty substantial budget. If anyone would like to donate extra funds to cover postage, entertainment and other incidentals, it would be much appreciated. The money left will be used for the next reunion.

We certainly hope you will make an effort to join us for a memorable weekend as wee say thank you to all of our veterans and welcome the amazing graduates of the Hartley High School.
